Municipality of Tetovo cooperates with the municipalities of neighbouring towns and local authorities in regional and EU countries. Municipality of Tetovo cooperates with all municipalities in the country. It is a member of the community of the local self-government unit in the Republic of Macedonia. The municipality has effective collaboration with the Municipality of Elbasan; municipality Kepez, Antalya; and Bayrampasa, Istanbul.

The International Relations Office that functions within the mayor’s cabinet is concerned in promoting the municipality in regional and international affairs; exchange experiences in the organization and administration of the cities, preservation of the natural environment, cultural exchange, the improvement of urban infrastructure, encouragement in production and economic activity.

The main activities of this office are obtaining membership for the municipality of Tetovo in regional, international and global structures, as well as maintaining good relationships, cooperation and project realization with:

• The cities of neighbouring countries, and main cities in the region.
• Cities of candidate countries for membership in EU.
• Cities of countries members of EU.
• Cities that are outside of the European Continent
